The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming Nov. 4 Statewide Special Election is Oct. 20, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez reminded residents today. Eligible voters who miss this deadline still have the option to “conditionally” register (also known as “same-day registration”) and vote in person at the Registrar of Voters or at any Vote Center.

There are two primary ways to register to vote:
- Go to RegisterToVote.ca.gov and fill out the California Secretary of State’s Online Voter Registration form by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 20.
- Obtain a paper registration form at any post office or public library in Sonoma County (or request a form be mailed to you) and drop it off at the Registrar of Voters Office no later than Oct. 20 (or send it in the mail with a postmark of Oct. 20 or earlier).
The Registrar of Voters Office is located at 435 Fiscal Drive in Santa Rosa. For the rest of October and all of November, the office will be open each weekday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding county holidays). In addition, the office will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the two weekends prior to Election Day (Oct. 25-26 and Nov. 1-2). Finally, the office will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day (Nov. 4).
