La secretaria, Registradora y Tasadora del Condado de Sonoma, Deva Marie Proto, anunció hoy con que la lista de evaluaciones netas del condado ha alcanzado un máximo sin precedentes de $120,459,402,383. Coalition of Bay Area Election Officials Recognized for Excellence in Election Administration with National Clearinghouse Award
Today, the Coalition of Bay Area Election Officials announced they were recognized for excellence in election administration with a national Clearinghouse Award for Distinguished Voter Education and Communications Initiatives. Also known as the “Clearies,” the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) presents the awards program annually to celebrate the hard work of election offices across the country. Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport set to perform storm culvert and runway upgrades on June 24
The Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport will refurbish a section of runway pavement and replace a deteriorating culvert on Monday, June 24. The work will be completed over 20 hours including nighttime work and is expected to cost $667,115. The permanent repair project is being coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration, which has oversight of safety and operations at the regional airfield, to mitigate any possible impacts to the traveling public. Sonoma County District Attorney Carla Rodriguez is hosting a Wage Theft & Labor Justice Symposium in Santa Rosa this Friday, June 21, 2024, from 8:30am until 4:30pm. Sonoma County Housing Authority opens three-bedroom Project-Based Voucher waitlist lotteries
The Sonoma County Housing Authority will accept applications for three-bedroom Project-Based Voucher waitlists from July 1 through July 31. The waitlists will be for Extremely Low Income, at or below 30 percent area median income, three-bedroom Project-Based Voucher units only. Read full story
Sonoma County announces immediate burn suspension
The Permit Sonoma Fire Prevention Division has suspended burning within the unincorporated county in response to Cal Fire’s burn suspension that began 12:01 a.m. June 17. The order bans all outdoor burning. Read full story
Sonoma County issues health advisory due to poor air quality caused by current wildfires
The Sonoma County Health Officer today issued the following health advisory: Sonoma County residents are urged to limit outdoor activities in parts of the county with poor air quality caused by wildfire events both in and outside of Sonoma County. People may experience adverse health effects from the smoke over Sonoma County and across the region. Members of sensitive groups may experience effects that are more serious. Older adults, pregnant individuals, children and people with heart disease or respiratory illness should avoid prolonged outdoor exertion. Everyone else, especially children, should limit outdoor exertion. Take more breaks during outdoor activities. Read full story
Preliminary 2024 Point-in-Time homeless count numbers rise as COVID-era programs end
After registering a decrease of 22 percent of people experiencing homelessness in Sonoma County in 2023, preliminary results of the Sonoma County Point-in-Time count for 2024 recorded an overall 11 percent increase. The annual one-day snapshot, conducted on January 26 from 5 to 10 a.m. across Sonoma County, located a total of 2,522 people experiencing homelessness, up from 2,266 in 2023 Read full story
Sonoma County declares local emergency in response to Point Fire
Sonoma County Executive M. Christina Rivera has declared a local emergency in response to the Point Fire, a prerequisite for requesting state and federal assistance for response and recovery efforts. The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting within the next seven days to consider ratifying the proclamation. Read full story
